I was extremely pleased to see the European Society of Veterinary Clinical Ethology release a statement today calling for a ban on the sale and use of electronic training collars for dogs. I recently launched a campaign to have these harmful devices banned in Scotland so it is an enormously positive step to see further calls for a ban spreading across Europe.
The statement details a range of evidence and points in support of a ban, but the case against electric shock collars is perhaps best summed up in a single line:
'... no argument makes a valid point to use an e-collar for dog training'.
More and more people are supporting my campaign to have these devices banned in Scotland - if you haven't already done so, please sign the petition to let the SNP know that their plans to allow the continued use of these devices isn't good enough. Only a complete ban will prevent dogs from being harmed.
